artist statement
While the memories are not my own, I find that the love held within them is palpable, and that feeling inspires everything I make.
My paintings explore the timeless beauty of unstaged moments between friends, family, and strangers based on a growing collection of found candid photography. I paint images from the past and present with color palettes reflective of analog film to set my pieces into their respective era and characterize the groups of strangers I am depicting. My work culminates as a scrapbook collection of memories that invites viewers to immerse themselves in and experience the anonymous and universal faces of friendship, familial love, and interpersonal bonds.
